Man accused of theft from Southern Park Mall store

Boardman police were dispatched to a store within the Southern Park Mall at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 23 in reference to a male who had just fled the store with stolen merchandise.

According to the police report, the suspect was recognized immediately by store employees because he had previously stolen from the store, but no report was filed.

The man went into the dressing room and came out with merchandise under his coat, the report states.

According to the report, the store’s loss prevention officer was following the suspect out of the west side doors with the merchandise still concealed under his coat. He advised Boardman Police dispatch that the man got into a white Jeep Cherokee and fled going southbound on Market Street

The report states that Boardman Police located the vehicle near Southwoods on Market Street and initiated a traffic stop.
