Cortland man found guilty of throwing urine at corrections officer

Anthony Wilson, 37, of North Mecca Street, Cortland, was found guilty Thursday before Judge Sean O’Brien of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court after a brief bench trial on a fifth-degree harassment by an inmate with a bodily substance felony.

Wilson, who could face between six and 12 months in prison, will be sentenced after undergoing a background investigation by probation officers.

Judge O’Brien revoked Wilson’s bond after announcing his verdict.

The case involved an incident on Jan. 29, 2023, where a Trumbull County Jail corrections officer who was splashed with urine that Wilson had thrown from a milk carton through an opening in the discipline pod of the jail.

State’s testimony came from two correction officers and jail Administrator Mayor Dan Mason. The defense did not call any witnesses.
