The National Weather Service notified residents in northeast Ohio to prepare to be hit by spring storms and flooding this afternoon into the late evening.

According to the Cleveland NWS forecast’s hazardous weather outlook, there’s a high chance of severe thunderstorms, rain and possibly hail from 1 p.m. through the early morning on Wednesday.

With so much rain and runoff, the NWS has issued a flood watch for Mahoning County until 11 p.m.

It’ll be cloudy today, with a high near 63 and a low of 50 tonight.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected to redevelop this afternoon and evening.

According to the flood watch for Austintown, Youngstown and Boardman, experts are forecasting 2 to 3 inches of rainfall.

Temperatures are expected to fall on Wednesday with more rain and a higher chance of thunderstorms. The hazardous weather alert and flood watch both end on Wednesday.
