REVIEW: Nothing like grabbing a few slices at Westside Bowl on live music night
What’s better than dinner with a show? The right night out needs the right food and atmosphere.
Westside Bowl is unique; the pizza, atmosphere and live music are all unlike any other.
There aren’t many places in Youngstown I can say I would proudly go to alone at night, but Westside Bowl is somewhere I feel comfortable being by myself. Everyone is so friendly.
There’s no judgment because everyone’s welcome; it feels corny to write but it feels like they’re welcoming you into their home. There’s so much art to look at and posters celebrating past and upcoming performances.
I loved getting my own personal pizza that was topped with pepperoni, extra Parmesan cheese and seasoning. Everyone will like the food at Westside Bowl, I promise.
What makes Westside Bowl’s pizza so different?
It practically glowed in the disco ball light and pink lights from the band’s set (I also like how you don’t have to wait around for your food, the staff members bring it to your table for you). The dough is so perfectly soft and the crust’s edge isn’t too crunchy or hard which is a pet peeve for sure. It was the perfect dinner for me!
I got to listen to an amazing local band I’ve been dying to check out called Ohayo (pronounced like Ohio).
Guys, they’re even better than I expected.
The six-piece band fronted by Lexi Kays is based in Youngstown. They played all original, mellow rock songs that had me dancing along and feeling so relaxed, including their newly-released single “Pretty Lies,” plus a cover of “Toxic” by Britney Spears. I’m really looking forward to hearing them again at Federal Frenzy later this month!
Next time, I’m bringing some cash to shoot baskets in the arcade which I didn’t realize they had until this visit.
I highly recommend treating yourself to an affordable evening at Westside Bowl, especially for the live music and personal pizza.
