The Vindys and Youngstown Symphony Orchestra rock DeYor Performing Arts Center
Two Youngstown music favorites, The Vindys and the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra, collaborated to wow a large crowd Friday night at DeYor Performing Arts Center inside Powers Auditorium with an impressive mix of rock and roll and classical music.
Lead singer Jackie Popovec showed off her wide range of vocal gymnastics and blended seamlessly with the orchestra along with the band’s seven fellow members.
The band started with rockers “Bugs” and “Don’t Tell Me Just Love Me” and played a wide range of songs from the band’s library including “Want Your Heart,” “Morning Light,” “Judas,” “Take Me Home,” “Water Under The Bridge,” “All and Everything” and “Classic.”
Popovec then performed a cover of Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World” with the orchestra.
After an intermission, the orchestra played “Overture to Il Signor Bruschino” and “Classic Calamities” before The Vindys finished out the show with “Red WIne,” “On My Mind,” “I Will Always Love You More,” “Ooh La, La” before closing the show with Abba’s “Gimme Gimme Gimme.”
