Highway construction projects starting in Mahoning, Trumbull counties, here’s where
Construction crews with the Ohio Department of Transportation are repairing bridges and patching strips of pavement along several highways in Mahoning and Trumbull counties.
Projects begin this week and some are expected to finish at the end of May, some time this summer or early fall.
Here’s what we know before you head out the door in the Mahoning Valley.
I-680 resurfacing/lighting improvements in Youngstown
Impacts on drivers:
- I-680 at Midlothian Boulevard is reduced to two lanes.
- I-680 northbound and southbound at Matthews Road is reduced to two lanes through May for bridge repairs. The project is expected to be done by this October.
State Routes 46 and 169 resurfacing in Niles
Impacts on drivers: Starting this week, several lanes will be restricted to drivers traveling on both State Route 46 between Robbins Avenue and Niles Vienna Road, and State Route 169 between State Route 46 to just west of US-422.
The project is expected to be finished around the end of August.
State Route 5 bridge replacement in Vernon Township
Impact on drivers: A part of Route 5 north of Bushnell Campbell Road is closed this week through late May in Vienna Township. Crews are replacing a bridge. There’s a detour at State Route 88 to State Route 7.
