Several officers with the Boardman Police Department broke up a fight and arrested three people during a band concert last night at Boardman High School’s Performing Arts Center.

The fight started around 7:40 p.m. Thursday during a fifth and sixth grade band concert at the performing arts center at Boardman High School.

People attending the concert alerted the on-duty school resource officer about two men were fighting in the vestibule of the Boardman Performing Arts Center, according to the police report.

He wrote in the official reports he yelled at the two fighting on the ground to stop.

The resource officer pulled one of the males off the other to separate the fighting. He detained the first man, a 34-year-old, in handcuffs behind his back on the ground, according to the report.

Other officers were called in to come help, including two off-duty police who arrested the second man.

Reports say police also arrested a woman for allegedly kicking one of the suspects after the fight in the head while he was being held down.

According to the reports, the 33-year-old woman kicked the second man arrested while she was walking by the arrest.

While trying to detain her for kicking the suspect, police reported hearing her say “I got you” to the first man who was arrested.

All three were arrested for disorderly conduct and failure to desist.

Records said they’re required to report to the Mahoning County courtroom at 9 a.m. this upcoming Tuesday.

Who started the fight?

There weren’t any cameras in the vestibule area where the fight happened, but several people said they saw how it started.

These statements were “conflicting,” according to reports.

One witness reported walking with the second man who was arrested in the fight.

As the pair was leaving the concert, a woman approached them. The witness told police the woman said “she was the reason they were getting a divorce.”

Then the first man arrested appeared and punched the second man, starting the fight.

Another witness said the fight started when the one man “snatched” the hat off the other man before punching him.

Police are still investigating and reviewing statements with the Mahoning County Prosecutor’s Office.
