Warren man gets indefinite term of at least three years in prison on sex charges
The following cases were handled May 7 before Judge Andrew D. Logan of the Trumbull County Common Pleas Court:
- Blake McCormick, 23, Blair Drive, Warren, was given a indefinite prison term of three to 4 ½ years after he had pleaded guilty to 8 counts pandering sexually oriented matter/minor (f2), 7 counts illegal use of minor/nudity-oriented material/performance (f2). McCormick was labeled a Tier 2 sex offender who after his prison term would have to register his address with the sheriff’s office twice per year for 25 years. Judge Logan said the defendant showed no real remorse and the prison term was appropriate despite his youth and lack of a previous criminal record.
- Patrick D. Johnson, 34, of Kings Drive SW, Newton Township, pleaded guilty to an amended indictment charging him with three third-degree felonies of robbery, burglary, and endangering children. The case stems from a Dec. 19, 2023, incident investigated by Trumbull County sheriff deputies at the Blue Water Manor in Newton Township where a mobile home was broken into, a puppy was stolen, and a young child was left unattended. Johnson, who could face a maximum nine-year prison term, will be sentenced after he undergoes a background investigation conducted by probation officers.
- David Moore, 32, Lincoln Avenue, Niles, was sentenced to a prison term of 24 months for convictions of aggravated possession of drugs (f5) and domestic violence (f3). The domestic violence charge was linked to an incident involving his wife, who asked the judge not to send her husband to prison. However, the judge cited that this was Moore’s fifth conviction for domestic violence, and he couldn’t take the chance of putting him on probation. “You have too much history,” the judge told Moore.
