Boardman runners take on the Memorial Mile, a tradition that’s been going on for the past 31 years, right before the Memorial Day parade kicks off.

This year’s event is split into two races: a non-competitive, all-ages mile for fun at 9:35 a.m., followed by a competitive race for all runners over the age of 15 starting at 9:55 a.m.

The starting line is at Chili’s Grill & Bar on Market Street in Boardman and goes east on U.S. Route 224.

Registration for the one-mile races can be completed online, or a printable registration form is available at lakeerie.usatf.org.

Day-of registration and packet pick-up starts at 8 a.m. at Chili’s.

For all the details, visit the Eastern Buckeye Track Club Facebook page.

After the racers are finished, attend the Memorial Day parade and ceremony by the Kiwanis Club of Boardman-Youngstown.

The parade starts at 10 a.m. at Boardman Center Intermediate School on Market Street.

The route goes north to U.S. Route 224 before heading east to Boardman Township Park.
