Youngstown police say man stabbed by girlfriend and shot by her brothers
Youngstown police are investigating a shooting and stabbing victim who was being treated at Mercy Health – St. Elizabeth Youngstown hospital.
The man, whose identity was not revealed in the police report had suffered a gunshot wound on his left hand and a stab wound on his back.
The man reported to police that he was verbally arguing with his girlfriend, who he was in the process of breaking up with, on the street near Oak Hill Avenue.
According to the report, his girlfriend had swung a pair of scissors at him as he was walking away from her and stabbed him in the back while shouting threats. Afterward, about three or four cars with his girlfriend’s five brothers pulled up on him on the street.
While he attempted to flee, the brothers fired about 30 rounds of an unknown handgun at the man, according to the report. The man eventually fled to some nearby woods where he went unconscious due to the gunshot wounds.
Police reported that two unknown good Samaritans had helped the man reach the hospital where he was treated. The matter continues to be under investigation.
