Warren man gets 4-6 years in prison on fentanyl and cocaine charges
The following cases were handled June 12 before Judge Cynthia Westcott Rice of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court:
- Emere A. Rogers, 24, High Street NE, Warren, received an indefinite prison sentence of four to six years after pleading guilty to second-degree possession of a fentanyl-related compound, fifth-degree possession of cocaine, and fourth-degree attempted failure to comply charges. The judge stated the defendant was not amenable to probation because he was rated as high-risk to re-offend and his record showed him fleeing from police two other times as probation violations. This case involved an incident on July 23, 2023, where Rogers had fled from Warren police.
- Javier Gonzalez, 38, of Midlothian Boulevard, Youngstown, pleaded guilty to a third-degree failure to comply with order or signal of police as well as a fourth-degree receiving stolen property felony. He was sentenced to a composite prison term totaling 15 months. The case involved an April 10, 2024 high-speed chase in which Liberty police officers pursued a stolen Chevy with speeds approaching 50 mph in residential neighborhoods, prosecutors stated. In its findings, the judge stated Gonzalez was not amenable for probation.
