How organizations in Youngstown plan on celebrating city’s 228th birthday

The city of Youngstown invites residents to join local organizations celebrating 228 years since the city was founded in 1796.

There will be cake, refreshments and a guided walking tour of historic Spring Common during Happy Birthday Youngstown.

The free event kicks off at 5 p.m. at the Tyler History Center, located at 325 W. Federal St. in downtown Youngstown.

There’s free parking available in the lot next to the building.

The celebration is made possible by Youngstown CityScape, the City of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley Historical Society.
