Temporary road restrictions in Struthers to happen while water main gets replaced
Utility company Aqua is replacing water mains in Struthers with construction set to conclude in November.
The company will replace 7,000 feet of water main serving people in Struthers. They announced via press release that there will be temporary lane restrictions when workers are present on the project.
Where will there be lane closures?
The project will extend to parts of State Street, Elm Street and Park Avenue and will include the entire length of Columbus Street, Moore Street and Reed Streets in Struthers. 20 new fire hydrants and 27 new valves will also be installed.
“In this project, we’ll be replacing almost a mile and a half of aging water main in an area prone to breaks,” Aqua Ohio’s Area Manager Jennifer Johnson said. “The driving force behind this project is improving service reliability to our customers.
What will the project improve?
The water main replacements will improve water flow to the area by increasing the size of the pipes. About 139 residents in Struthers will be receiving new company-owned service lines from Aqua.
This project is a part of the $65 million that Aqua has invested across 40 different utility systems in Ohio. Mahoning Valley specifically has $8 million allocated for current and future projects.
