Cookie shop hosts summer reading challenge with sweet prizes

Local cookie shop One Hot Cookie is looking to sweeten the summer with a Summer Reading Quest & Story Time Series full of cookie treats for readers ages 2-17.

From now until Aug. 15 participants are invited to pick up a reading log at either of the two One Hot Cookie locations and read to earn delicious cookie prizes.

The reading log is kept in increments of 30 minutes and must be signed off by a parent or guardian. After completing two hours of reading, children can collect their prize of a free traditional cookie. After completing five hours of reading, the prize turns into a specialty cookie.

Completing ten hours of reading will warrant a specialty cookie of the child’s choice or a specialty brownie and ice cream from the store. The child must be present to collect their prize and only one prize can be collected per visit.

Once the log is complete, it can be exchanged for a new one to start over.

“Story Time Events” will also happen where a classic children’s book will be read on select days at either One Hot Cookie location in Boardman and Hermitage, Pa.
