Girard man pleads guilty to breaking-and-entering before Trumbull court
A man pleaded guilty to several counts of felonious breaking-and-entering related charges.
Daniel Hiles, 70, of Smithsonian Street, Girard, pleaded guilty to a five-count indictment charging him with two counts of breaking and entering, two counts of vandalism and one count of possessing criminal tools — all fifth-degree felonies.
The charges deal with an August 2023 break-in at the Animal Welfare League facility off of Belmont Avenue in Vienna and the Christmas Day 2023 break-in at the nearby Colonial Gardens Center on Route 193 in Vienna.
Hiles, who had nine other criminal cases of felony breaking and entering in Trumbull County court, will submit to a background investigation conducted by probation officers.
His sentencing will be heard at the Trumbull County Common Pleas court by Judge Cynthia Westcott Rice.
It is estimated he may spend as much as five years in prison.
