3 Quebec residents identified in fatal Trumbull County plane crash

A pilot and two passengers from Quebec died after their plane crashed Friday night in Trumbull County.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Office in Warren, the crash happened around 7 p.m. at the Youngstown Air Reserve Station near State Route 11 and King Graves Road in Fowler Township.

The call came in at 7:09 p.m. that the pilot of a small aircraft was attempting to make an emergency landing at Youngstown Air Reserve Station when the plane crashed, carrying him and two passengers.

All three of the occupants died as a result of the crash.

Warren OSP identified them as 54-year-old pilot Jawdat Khawam. The two passengers were identified as 45-year-old Martine Arseneault, and an eight year old girl named Daphne Khawam. They’re from Laval, Quebec.

Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office, Howland police, Vienna police and Vienna firefighters all assisted at the crash.

OSP described the plane as a fixed wing multi-engine aircraft that crashed near one of the runways.

The crash is still being investigated by OSP, and the The Federal Aviation Administration is conducting a separate and independent investigation.
