The following cases were handled on Aug. 1 before Judge Ronald J. Rice of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court:

  • Jerami Wells, 33, of Addison Road, Masury, pleaded guilty to a fourth-degree endangering children felony. Wells, who had a previous child-endangering conviction out of Warren court in 2021, will be sentenced after he undergoes a background investigation conducted by probation officers. The case involved a March 20, 2024, incident investigated by Brookfield police in which a five-year-old boy was wondering in an apartment complex parking lot without a coat or shoes. A further investigation of Wells’ home found his one-year-old home alone in a bed.
  • Christopher M. Viera, 43, of Kensington NW, Warren, pleaded guilty to a fifth-degree theft felony. He will be sentenced after undergoing a background check by probation department. The case involved a Nov. 9, 2023, theft of $3,460 in merchandise from Lowe’s on Niles-Canfield Road investigated by Warren police.
  • Montez Williams, 34, of Cleveland, was re-sentenced to an 18-month prison term consecutive to a previous 10-month term given Oct. 11, 2023, by Judge Cynthia Rice for a possession of cocaine conviction. Williams re-sentencing was ordered by the Ohio 11th District Court of Appeals who agreed that factual findings for consecutive sentences were not read to Williams at the time of his sentencing for violating probation in the improper handling of firearms in motor vehicle case on Oct. 19, 2023.
