Liberty woman going back to prison in Walmart robbery case
A 24-year-old Liberty Township woman pleaded guilty on Aug. 14 to a second-degree robbery felony with a firearm specification and was sentenced to an indefinite prison term from three to four years which includes one mandatory year because a gun was used in the commission of a crime.
Yazmeen S. Green of Logangate Road, was sentenced by Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Sean O’Brien to the Ohio Reformatory for Women in Marysville. Prosecutors noted Green was on judicial release from her prison term for a failure to comply conviction in October 2022 in Mahoning County.
The recent case involved Green being a suspect of Libery police in a shoplifting offense Feb. 14, 2024, at the Walmart Super Store on Belmont Avenue. A woman wa sin the sporting goods and took out a FNX 40-caliber semi-automatic handgun to put into a holster on the display floor. The woman, identified as Green took the holster out of the store without paying for it, reports stated, and ran from police dropping her jacket and the handgun in the pursuit.
Prosecutors agreed to drop the carrying a concealed weapon felony in exchanged for Green’s guilty plea for the robbery.
