Several Mahoning Valley projects will get state funding as part of a $94.5 million investment to expand broadband access in the second round of the Ohio Residential Broadband Expansion Grant project announced Wednesday.

“Having reliable, high-speed internet is an essential part of our world today,” Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine said in a press release. “Providing Ohio’s unserved areas with dependable, affordable broadband access will enhance economic growth and create new opportunities where they didn’t previously exist.”

Local projects included:

  • Brightspeed was awarded $11,358,720 for one project that will provide access to 5,053 households. The project serves Allen, Ashtabula, Columbiana, Knox, Mahoning, Shelby and Trumbull counties.
