Boardman police are investigating separate thefts at same Dollar General store
Boardman police are investigating two thefts last week at the Dollar General at 859 E. Midlothian Blvd. In both thefts, reports showed that laundry detergent was stolen.
The first theft occurred about 3 p.m. Sept. 11.
According to the police report, an employee of the store discovered the rear alarm going off and discovered that someone stole items and fled on foot out the rear south-facing door. After reviewing the store’s video surveillance system, it was discovered that three laundry detergent items were taken . Store employees believed other items may have been stolen. According to the police report, store employees provided the following description of the suspect: a black male about 40 years of age, bald with no facial hair.
The suspect was wearing navy-colored sweatpants and a sweatshirt at the time of the burglary.
No arrests have been made as of yet.
Two days later, police were again called back to the Dollar General on East Midlothian to investigate another robbery report.
Dispatchers stated this suspect fled from the store on a black bicycle, heading west on Midlothian.
A store employee told officers that she was in the back of the store about 5:25 p.m. on Sept. 13 when she heard a co-worker yell from the front of the store. The suspect had pushed the co-worker out of the way and ran out of the store and onto his bike. The employee said she recognized the suspect from the other recent theft incident.
In the latest incident, another employee watched the suspect via store security cameras pull a grocery bag from his pants and begin to fill it with merchandise, according to the report. Again the suspect had reportedly taken five laundry pod containers, valued about $73.
