Dr. Marshall Bahr has been inducted into the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame.
He’s a 39-year-old from Columbiana County who served as a Special Operations combat medic in the U.S. Army’s 75th Ranger Regiment.
When he came back home, U.S. Army veteran Dr. Bahr started working to improve healthcare accessibility for veterans in Columbiana County and the entire Mahoning Valley.
He graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Medical Center in 2015.
In 2022, Dr. Bahr received the American College of Physicians professionalism award.
In 2023, he founded an outpatient center in Salem called Lead The Way Recovery, the area’s first medical center for veterans and military service members with substance abuse disorders.
He also started a program to help veterans with mental health concerns, such as post-traumatic stress and substance abuse disorders. It’s called the Helping Heroes Program.
The Helping Heroes Program works with the Paul Tillman Foundation to “break down the stigmas surrounding mental health of service people who have risked their lives.”
Dr. Bahr started a consulting firm, Xterra Health, assisting disabled veterans in navigating their disability claims, based in Salem.
Currently, he’s the regional director of medical/clinical operations at BayMark Health Services, one of the largest addiction treatment centers in the nation.
