Youngstown State University students preparing for holiday art show and market
The Youngstown State University Department of Art is hosting the YSU Student Holiday Art Show and Market on Dec. 6 to bring even more holiday cheer to downtown Youngstown’s Light Up Night.
During the student art show, attendees can stop by Concept Studio and even purchase original art created by YSU art students.
Students majoring in art are showcasing their paintings sculptures, prints, ceramics and more.
The YSU Student Holiday Art Show and Market will be on display from 4 - 7 p.m. inside Concept Studio, located on 217 W Federal St. in downtown Youngstown.
What else is happening for Light Up Night?
On Dec. 6, festivities begin with the Flea on Phelps Street at 4 p.m. and the annual downtown holiday parade at 6 p.m.
Local vendors, makers and artisans will be selling items during this “must-shop” holiday market, according to Youngstown Flea Derrick McDowell.
“Now, more than ever, we need to truly embody what it means to support small businesses. Inflation costs, uncertainty in the marketplace, concerns over downtown parking, inclement weather and more are all issues that can concern us,” said McDowell. “But we’re just the right folks here in Youngstown, who ‘invented grit’ and are fit for the job of showing up to #ShopLocal.”
The tree lighting is expected to begin at 7:15 p.m.
