Union plans demonstrations outside Mahoning Valley Republican representative’s office
Local nurses, caregivers and union members are planning to protest against cutting jobs and access to federal health insurance programs at northeast Ohio Republican district offices.
These healthcare professionals are part of the regional chapter of the Service Employees International Union.
Across the state, SEIU union members are planning on meeting with congressional state representatives to advise against cutting Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security.
SEIU 1199 will be meeting with representatives then holding demonstrations, according to a press release at:
- noon on March 21 at Rep. Michael Rulli‘s office in Canfield
A demonstration was held at noon on Tuesday at Rep. Dave Joyce’s office in Warren.
“These potential cuts will devastate Ohio families and potentially shut down hospitals and nursing homes, leading to the loss of jobs,” the union stated. “We will be attempting to meet with Congressional Representatives and demonstrating at [their] offices.”
There are also demonstrations at 12:30 p.m. on March 18 at Sen. Bernie Moreno’s office in Cincinnati and at noon on March 19 at Rep. Mike Turner’s office in Dayton.
