Gun found in students vehicle at Chaney High School, officials say

A gun was found in a student’s vehicle at Chaney High School on Monday, according to school officials.

A tip led to an investigation that uncovered a gun belonging to a student in a vehicle in the school parking lot, according to a school press release.

Officials said at no point was a gun found inside the building.

The administration at Chaney High School responded promptly to ensure the safety of all scholars and staff, according to the release.

“Everyone in the building is safe, the building is secure, and a weapon was never discharged,” the release stated. “Chaney High School appreciates the swift response of law enforcement and will continue to cooperate with them during this investigation.”

Officials said the situation remains an active investigation and the district is unable to provide additional details at this time.
