Some of the most important issues for Ohio Secretary of State Democratic party candidate Bryan Hambley include bringing critical healthcare and opportunities for voters to be heard in under-served communities.

As a physician treating people with cancer, he’s treated hundreds of patients and knows barriers to affordable healthcare are affecting local families.

Hambley is running against Republican Robert Sprague in the race for Ohio Secretary of State in the November general election of 2026.

On June 13 and June 14, he’ll be meeting with political leaders, elected officials, voters and volunteers in northeast Ohio, including Mahoning and Columbiana counties.

“I want to understand the problems facing Ohioans in every county, to understand how I can impact their lives as Ohio Secretary of State,” Hambley said.

On Friday, Hambley is meeting with the Columbiana County Democratic Women’s Caucus at 4 p.m. in Lisbon.

After the Lisbon event, he’ll be co-hosting a free cookout for constituents along with the Mahoning County Democratic Party.

Hotdogs for Hambley starts at 6 p.m.; send an RSVP email to hambley.mahoningdemocrats.org to receive the exact location.

Then on Saturday, Hambley is joining the Tuscarawas County Democratic Party for a meet-and-greet from 2 - 4 p.m. at the party’s headquarters, located at 1260 Monroe St. NW in New Philadelphia.

“Representing Ohio in the Secretary of State’s office means seeing and knowing Ohio. As I travel the State, I’m honored that Ohioans are sharing their stories and the issues their communities are facing with me,” Hambley said.

Hambley said he entered the race because “caring for his patients and his community cannot end at the hospital door.”

“As we work to end gerrymandering and create fair districts in Ohio, we will need to bring together people from across the political spectrum,” Hambley said. “That work will require elected officials to truly listen to everyone at the table, recognizing we all have something to contribute to make Ohio better for all of us.”

He’s married to Jana Hambley, a trauma surgeon and they live in Warren County with their five and seven-year-old children.
