State reps cutting ribbons for completed Trumbull, Mahoning senior PACE program
Local representatives will be commemorating the completion of two new senior care centers opening this summer for rural residents in the Warren and Youngstown communities.
It’s for the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly, also known as Buckeye PACE.
Elected officials including State Rep. David Thomas and staff with Senator Jon Husted and Rep. Michael Rulli are expected to attend the ribbon cutting on July 21 and 22.
The three Buckeye PACE locations are opening in August in Trumbull, Mahoning, and Ashtabula counties.
First there’s a ribbon cutting at 11 a.m. July 21 at the Mahoning County PACE day center located at 2701 Market St. in Youngstown.
Then there’s a second ribbon cutting at 11 a.m. July 22 at the Trumbull County PACE day center located at 2154 Elm Road NE in Warren.
During the commemoration, visitors will hear from Jamie Carmichael, chief program officer at the Ohio Department of Aging.
PACE services available to eligible patients include at-home care personal care supportive services and at designated PACE centers, they offer primary care, therapy, meals, recreation, socialization and personal care.
Who is eligible for Buckeye PACE?
Through PACE, each participant is cared for by an interdisciplinary team of medical professionals and support staff.
The PACE program allows dual-eligible individuals aged 55 and older to age at home with the medical and support services they need, at no cost to them.
Wellness experts say the PACE model meets the needs of aging Ohioans while rural senior care providers struggle to meet soaring demand for at-home care.
Participants also have access to a wide spectrum of in-center and at-home services including personalized medical care, prescription drug assistance, transportation, social activities, and nursing care.
The launch of Buckeye PACE will help ensure that seniors in Trumbull, Mahoning and Ashtabula counties, as well as surrounding regions, have access to the resources, support and connections they need.
