Over 150 jobs affected after 2 northeast Ohio plants start closures in fall
By the end of 2025, around 150 employees in northeast Ohio are expected to be let go from their jobs as the manufacturing plants they work at wind down operations for good.
One hundred and 53 employees working at the two Trilogy Plastics Alliance plants will be laid off starting Sept. 30, according to Myers Industries.
Both plastic production and manufacturing plants are expected to be permanently closed, according to the letter from Myers Industries.
Most positions will be eliminated between Sept. 30 and Oct. 14.
The closure affects over 60 assemblers and machine operators, and the remaining employees are production workers, quality inspectors, material handlers and office employees like human resources and administration.
In 2021, Myers Industries acquired Trilogy Plastics, which has been operating since 1987. They used rotational plastic molding to create custom products for industries such as healthcare, lawn equipment and long-haul trucking.
Louis and Meyer Myers founded Myers Industries in Akron as a storefront and manufacturer of rubber tires in 1933.
