The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber is continuing its effort to draw residents and visitors to the city’s core by spotlighting a full slate of events in downtown Youngstown this week. Chamber representatives said from live music and art gatherings to family fun, festivals and a legendary rock show, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Thursday, Aug. 14 – The Phelps Street creative gathering returns from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Phelps Street Gateway. Artists, crafters and makers of all skill levels are encouraged to bring their own materials and create in an open-air, social atmosphere. Tables and chairs are provided. Free parking is available on Commerce Street behind 20 Federal. The event continues weekly through the fall, weather permitting.

Friday, Aug. 15 – The Youngstown Summer Movie Series features the 2011 romantic comedy Crazy Stupid Love at Wean Foundation Park. Showtime is 9 p.m.

Saturday, Aug. 16 – Youngstown Pickle Fest makes its debut at Penguin City Brewing Company, 460 E. Federal St., from noon to 4 p.m. The free, family- and dog-friendly festival will feature pickle-themed foods, drinks, vendors, live music, contests and activities.

Sunday, Aug. 17

The Kids Carnival Brunch, hosted by Penguin City Brewing and Build Your Own Breakfast (BYOB) LLC, runs from noon to 4 p.m., featuring games, bounce houses, special guests and more. Free admission.

Jazz in the Park Youngstown Concert Series welcomes Arielle & Friends with special guest DJ Kickdrum to Wick Park from 3 to 7 p.m.

Rock icon Alice Cooper brings his Too Close For Comfort Tour to The Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.com.

“These events showcase the energy, creativity and community spirit that define downtown Youngstown. We encourage everyone to come experience our vibrant city center,” said a chamber representative.

The Regional Chamber, a partner to help advance the strategic redevelopment of the city’s downtown, stated it will continue to assist in improving business-to-business communication so that retailers, including restaurants and bars, can make good staffing decisions that coincide with these upcoming large events.
