Trumbull County eatery reopens with fresh start under new owner, chef and name
The new owners of a newly-renovated Trumbull County restaurant are ready to unveil changes they’ve made to the restaurant and some menu items while also preserving the welcoming atmosphere appreciated by longtime patrons.
Wenona and Dan Herrmann took over ownership of The Local Tap & Grill at 2242 Greenville Road in Mecca, formerly known as The Yellow Dog Saloon and Grill.
The Herrmann’s vision for the restaurant near Mosquito Lake is a local dining destination that offers both a family-friendly environment during the day and a vibrant nightlife scene known as The Local After Dark.
They’ve repainted the walls, refurbished beloved tiled floors and brought a new chef on board named Jamie Manning who’s serving hearty comfort food, steak dinners, burgers and wraps, with a signature sauce paying homage to Mosquito Lake.
On Sept. 9 at 11 a.m., the new owners are inviting the community for a first look at the new interior during a grand opening ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber.
“This ribbon cutting isn’t about starting over — it’s about building on a strong foundation and inviting everyone to be part of the next chapter,” Wenona said. “Dan, Jamie, and I can’t wait to welcome old friends, new faces, and visitors from all over to The Local.”
The Local has a full-service bar offering bottled and canned beer, cocktails and mixed drinks.
The Local Tap and Grill is open from 10 a.m. - 1 a.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. - 2:30 a.m. Friday and Saturday, and from noon - 8 p.m. Sunday.
