50 restaurants featured on improved Italian food trail in Trumbull County
Since Italian immigrants began settling in and around Trumbull County in the late 1800s, dishes like wedding soup, decadent pizza, rich pasta and pizzelles for dessert have become a staple of the region.
In October, the county tourism bureau launched a new and improved Italian Food Trail for 2025.
According to the Trumbull County Tourism Bureau, the updated trail includes a new passport program where participants visit restaurants for the chance to win a $50 prize box in a monthly drawing.
The trail features 50 restaurants, specialty shops, grocery stores and pizzerias known for sticking to traditions and delivering great flavor around the county.
On the list, there are eight restaurants in bold text designated as priority stops:
- Jimmy’s Italian Specialties Liberty
- Sunrise Inn in Warren
- Leo’s Ristorante in Howland
- Salvatore’s Italian Grill in Howland
- Franky’s Pizza & Deli in Warren
- Vernon’s Cafe in Niles
- Pesa Italian Rolls in Howland
- Station Square Ristorante in Liberty
First, participants will need a copy of the passport, which is available for pickup at participating restaurants and at the Trumbull County Tourism office at 321 Mahoning Ave. NW in Warren. It can also be downloaded online.
Next participants will need to visit all eight of the priority stops listed above and ask for a sticker after making a purchase.
Complete the passport by collecting all eight stickers and submit the completed sticker page by either posting a photo on Facebook of your completed passport with your name on it and tagging @TrulyTrumbull and @ItalianFoodTrail; emailing a photo of the completed passport to italianfood@trulytrumbull.com; dropping it off or mailing it to the Trumbull County Tourism office.
