“More than lights.” Mahoning Valley light displays on Ohio Holiday Lights Trail
Are you ready to get into the holiday spirit? TourismOhio unveiled the 2025 holiday lights trail featuring a total of 79 must-see light displays, including 22 stops in northeast Ohio and two in the Mahoning Valley.
Columbiana Area Tourism Bureau’s Joy of Christmas drive-through light show and Light Up the Square in downtown Warren are both on the 2025 Ohio Holiday Lights Trail.
Lydia Mihalik is the director of the Ohio Department of Development which oversees TourismOhio.
“The Ohio Holiday Lights Trail is really a celebration of local spirit,” Mihalik said. “Every community has its own traditions — its own way of making the season feel magical. When you see how many places across Ohio are lighting up for the holidays, you realize just how much pride and care goes into making this time of year special.”
TourismOhio research shows that one in four visitors coming home to see friends and family never leave the house to do an activity — meaning many miss out on the holiday traditions that create lasting memories.
“These displays are more than lights,” TourismOhio director Sarah Wickham said. “They’re an invitation to get out into our communities — to walk downtown with a cup of cocoa, to support local shops, to make memories with the people who matter.”
The full trail and interactive map is available to download online where you can sort by region, plan trips with nearby dining, attractions and lodging.
Michael Clark is the chair of Joy of Christmas in Columbiana.
“The Ohio Holiday Lights Trail highlights festive experiences in every region of the state and we’re proud that Joy of Christmas 2025 is part of so many beloved holidays traditions,” he said.
Joy of Christmas 2025 is now open from 6-9 p.m. on select nights through Dec. 28 in historic Harvey S. Firestone Recreational Park, located at 298 E. Park Ave. in Columbiana.
“Whether a local or day-tripper, we invite you to shop small, sip/dine local and savor the sense of community that made Columbiana a Hallmark Christmas Movie Town before visiting us at the Joy of Christmas 2025 Holiday Light Show,” Clark said.

The Hometown Holidays celebration includes several ongoing events in and around Courthouse Square, including markets from 2-6 p.m. at Fatty Cakes Soap and inside the Brite Building, an ice sculpting demonstration and ornament making at the Kinsman House.
The holiday parade begins at 5 p.m., followed by a tree lighting and meet-and-greets with Santa and Mrs. Claus at 5:30 p.m.
