On Thursday, Dr. Bryan Hambley, Democratic candidate for Ohio Secretary of State, officially filed petitions to secure his place on the ballot for the May 2026 primary.

With the assistance of over 30 volunteers from around the state, the Hambley campaign turned in over 2,500 signatures, the first statewide candidate from either party to file their petitions.

“I’m honored to have the support of voters in every corner of Ohio,” said Hambley. “With this huge step forward for our campaign, I am reaffirming my commitment to bringing better care to Ohio’s democracy.”

Petition signatures were collected at meet-and-greets, Democratic club meetings, canvass launches, and more.

“We collected signatures from Democrats in 46 different counties,” said Bill Wentz, campaign volunteer and signature drive organizer, “that shows the broad support that Bryan has across the state.”

Since announcing his candidacy in January 2025, Hambley said he has traveled to 67 of Ohio’s 88 counties, attended over 215 events, and met countless Ohioans.

He said he looks forward to visiting the remaining counties, learning more about every community in Ohio, and continuing the fight to end gerrymandering in Ohio.
