To ring in the new year, Ohio Living’s Lake Vista Community located in Cortland is getting a new name.

Otterbein SeniorLife acquired the independent living and assisted living facility on Route 46 in Cortland which first opened in 1998.

The transaction was finalized on Dec. 31 for approximately $15.4 million, according to the Trumbull County Auditor’s website.

Jill Wilson is the president and CEO of Otterbein SeniorLife, a senior living provider based in Lebanon, Ohio that’s been around since 1912.

Otterbein SeniorLife operates throughout Ohio and Indiana at 13 full-service senior care communities, nine skilled nursing and rehabilitation neighborhoods.

“This is a meaningful step forward in our journey to extend our mission to enrich individual life journeys for all,” Wilson said. “We feel privileged to continue the faith-based mission of Ohio Living at Lake Vista. With 113 years of experience, we are honored to invest in Lake Vista’s future and welcome its residents, staff, and families into the Otterbein family.”

There’s a total of 22 acres making up the senior living community in Cortland offering various senior living options, according to the auditor’s records.

Laurence C. Gumina is the CEO of Ohio Living, which is a non-profit senior care organization like Otterbein SeniorLife.

“The boards of directors and leadership teams of Ohio Living and Otterbein SeniorLife have worked collaboratively to ensure this long-standing community we love continues to thrive, both now and far into the future,” Gumina said.

The current name, Ohio Living Lake Vista, will be changing to the Otterbein Cortland SeniorLife Community.

They’re keeping the current staff and leadership team on, who will be supported by the Otterbein SeniorLife home office team.

“Following an exploratory process, it was clear Otterbein offered the best opportunity to ensure the long-term viability of our Ohio Living Lake Vista community,” Gumina said. “Otterbein SeniorLife is a premier senior living provider, and their commitment to mission and excellence aligns flawlessly with our community’s culture and philosophy.”
