Pawn shop operator purchases former drug store for $1.3 million in Youngstown

The Ohio subsidiary of a global pawn shop operator recently purchased another one of the shuttered drug stores in Youngstown, according to records on the Mahoning County Auditor’s Office website.

FirstCash Holdings Inc. is a cash lending provider and the operator of over 3,000 pawn stores internationally, including 59 shops in Ohio under brands like Cash Land and Cash America.

At the end of 2025, FirstCash purchased the former Rite Aid pharmacy at 540 East Midlothian Boulevard for $1.3 million.

The transaction went through on Dec. 19 with the previous owner, 540 Youngstown OH LLC.

This drug store dates back to 1995 and can be found near the intersection of East Midlothian Boulevard and South Avenue.

In the fall of 2025, a local couple opened Lakeview Ace Hardware inside a former Rite Aid at 569 S. High St. in Cortland.
