Attorney Mark P. D’Apolito announces candidacy for Judge of Common Pleas Court
Attorney Mark P. D’Apolito announced his candidacy for Judge of the Common Pleas Court, seeking to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of The Honorable Judge R. Scott Krichbaum, with a term commencing on February 9, 2027.
Surrounded by family, friends, and colleagues, he officially filed his nominating petitions and expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity to continue serving the residents of Mahoning County.
Attorney D’Apolito Graduated from Boardman High School. He earned an undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Toledo, College of Law. After completing law school, he returned to Mahoning County and was admitted to the practice of law.
His legal career began in the City of Youngstown’s Law Department, where he worked on complex litigation, including efforts to maintain local control of the school system and protect employee rights. He also prosecuted criminal cases in the Youngstown Municipal Court and represented the city in civil matters related to community and economic development projects.
In 2018, D’Apolito joined the Mahoning County Prosecutor’s Office as an Assistant Prosecutor. He managed a docket of Felony Non-Support Cases and provided legal representation to various county entities, including the Board of Mahoning County Commissioners, the Mahoning County Sheriff, and several other county boards and townships. He expressed pride in his work supporting law enforcement, particularly in the acquisition and implementation of public safety and communication systems.
D’Apolito highlighted his contributions to the establishment of the Mahoning County Campus of Care, a project that transformed a shuttered state institution into a hub for social service organizations providing wraparound services. He also emphasized the importance of family and child welfare, drawing from his experience prosecuting Felony Child Support Non-Support Cases and his personal perspective as a father.
In 2022, D’Apolito transitioned to the role of Township Administrator for Austintown, where he continues to serve under the direction of the Austintown Township Trustees. During his tenure, he has overseen significant projects, including a playground expansion funded by the State Capital Budget and large-scale road resurfacing projects achieved through collaboration with county officials.
D’Apolito concluded his announcement by emphasizing his commitment to fairness and the protection of rights for all residents. He asked for support in his campaign and encouraged voters to remember him at the ballot box on November 3, 2026.
