The Mahoning Valley Freedom Fighters are partnering with local organizations and businesses to fight food insecurity.

The first Freedom Fighter Family Pantry launched at the end of February at Thrive Mahoning Valley, a community-operated pantry that’s always open behind the building at 854 Wilson Ave. in Youngstown.

Inside, there’s non-perishable food for all ages, basic hygiene items, household goods and clothing, which may vary depending on donations.

There’s also information on important community resources like food banks, finding housing, local shelters and mental health support.

Everything comes from donations by Mahoning Valley neighbors who “believe everyone deserves to thrive,” according to Thrive Mahoning Valley.

“Take what you need, leave (and/or give) what you can,” organizers said.

The Freedom Fighter Family Pantry is open 24/7, 365 days a year for anyone in need, no questions asked, no registration or signup required.

On Mondays, donations can be dropped off between 2–4 p.m. at Thrive Mahoning Valley and between 5–7 p.m. at Coy Cornelius & Judy Roger’s Studios in Youngstown.

The Mahoning Valley Freedom Fighters are looking for more businesses and community spaces ready to help fight food insecurity and set up their own pantries.

For more information, reach out to info@mvfreedomfighters.org; monetary donations for the pantry can also be made online.
