Community invited to grand opening of Ohio’s only LGBTQIA+ homeless shelter
The Full Spectrum Community Outreach Center has been working toward a history-making goal: creating the state’s only LGBTQIA+ adult homeless shelter.
Now, the Youngstown non-profit organization is ready to host a grand opening celebration for the Rainbow House of the Mahoning Valley.
The grand opening is from 3 - p.m. on March 16 at 660 W. Earle Ave. in Youngstown, including food and refreshments, music and local vendors.
Organizers are giving community members the opportunity to see the safe, affirming space created for LGBTQIA+ adults in need.
The Rainbow House of the Mahoning Valley was founded to “address the disproportionate risk of homelessness” within the community by offering emergency and transitional housing.
Rainbow House is a trauma-informed, culturally responsive shelter built by and for the LGBTQIA+ community of the Mahoning Valley serving Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties in Ohio, and Mercer and Lawerence Counties in Pennsylvania.
On March 28, head to Westside Bowl in Youngstown for the tenth annual Full Spectrum Bowling for Visibility, a free and family-friendly afternoon.
Participants will get to bowl for free between 4 - 6 p.m. at Westside Bowl.
