Second Harvest Food Bank executive director retiring after 25 years
The Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley recently announced Renee Fuller will be stepping into the role of executive director.
After 25 years of dedicated leadership, Mike Iberis is retiring from his position after helping to shape the organization into one of the region’s most impactful hunger-relief agencies.
“Renee’s knowledge of our programs, our partners and our community is invaluable,” Iberis said. “She has been an essential part of our success, and I am confident the food bank will continue to grow and serve more people under her leadership.”
Iberis will remain involved with the organization as a member of the food bank’s executive board, continuing to support its mission in a new role.
Fuller has been with Second Harvest Food Bank for more than eight years, serving in a variety of roles within the organization.
Most recently, she played a key part in daily operations, program development and strategic planning as associate director.
Fuller emphasized that the transition in leadership will not change the food bank’s commitment to the community.
“Our mission remains the same,” Fuller said. “Nothing will change in the way we operate day to day, and our focus will continue to be on providing as many meals as possible to individuals and families facing hunger.”
During his tenure, Iberis oversaw tremendous growth in the food bank’s reach and capacity, strengthening partnerships and ensuring thousands of families, seniors and children have access to food across Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties.
Under his leadership, Second Harvest expanded programs, increased distribution and built a strong network of supporters, volunteers and community partners.
“We are grateful for Mike’s leadership over the past 25 years, and we look forward to building on the strong foundation he created,” Fuller said.
In 2025, Second Harvest Food Bank distributed 9.7 million pounds of food through its network of 160 partner agencies and programs, helping to provide more than 8.8 million meals across the Mahoning Valley.
Through the organization’s efficiency and partnerships, every $1 donated helps provide 5 meals to the community.
