Traffic impacts in Mahoning and Trumbull counties for the week of March 30
The Ohio Department of Transportation has announced the following new and continuing traffic impacts for the week of March 30 in Mahoning and Trumbull County.
Mahoning County
Interstate 680 pavement replacement, Youngstown NEW IMPACT – The ramp from Mahoning Ave. eastbound to I-680 southbound is closed permanently. Motorists wishing to access I-680 southbound will use Glenwood Ave. to High St. NEW IMPACT – I-680 between SR 193 and South Ave. has occasional lane restrictions through mid-April. NEW IMPACT – Beginning Monday, April 13, I-680 northbound between South Ave. and SR 193 will be CLOSED through summer 2027. The detour will be U.S. 62 to U.S. 422 to SR 193. NEW IMPACT – Beginning Monday, April 13, the following ramps will be CLOSED through summer 2027: • I-680 north to SR 193. The detour will be U.S. 62/SR 7 to U.S. 422 to SR 193. • Marshall St. to I-680 north. The detour will be Glenwood Ave. to Mahoning Ave. to Belle Vista Ave. • I-680 north to Glenwood Ave./Mahoning Ave. The detour will be South Ave. to Front St. to Marshall St. • Market St. to I-680 north. Th detour will be Woodland Ave. to Hadnet Dr. to South Ave. to U.S. 62/SR 7 to U.S. 422 to SR 193. • Woodland Ave. to I-680 north. The detour will be Woodland Ave. to Hadnet Dr. to South Ave. to U.S. 62/SR 7 to U.S. 422 to SR 193. • U.S. 62 west/SR 7 south to I- 680 north. The detour will be Woodland Ave. to Hadnet Dr. to South Ave. to U.S. 62/SR 7 to U.S. 422 to SR 193.
Interstate 680 noise wall installation, Boardman Township I-680 northbound has various lane restrictions from just north of US 224 to SR 170. Estimated completion, late December 2025.
Interstate 680 resurfacing, Boardman and Beaver Townships NEW IMPACT – Beginning Monday, March 30, I-680 from just south of US 224 to the Pennsylvania Turnpike will have various lane restrictions for pavement repairs and resurfacing. Estimated completion, late July 2026.
Wick Avenue bridge deck replacement, Youngstown NEW IMPACT – U.S. 422 under Wick Ave.has various lane restrictions for bridge repairs. Estimated completion, late August 2026.
U.S. Route 224 bridge repairs, Poland NEW IMPACT – Beginning Monday, April 6 and continuing through Friday, April 10, U.S. 224 just east of Water St. will be reduced to one lane in each direction for bridge repairs.
U.S. 224 bridge replacement, Canfield Township U.S. 224 over I-76/Ohio Turnpike is reduced to one lane in each direction through fall 2026 for a bridge replacement being performed by the Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission.
Trumbull County
Interstate 80 pedestrian bridge repairs, Girard NEW IMPACT – Beginning Monday evening, April 6 and continuing through Tuesday morning, April 14, the following ramps will be closed nightly between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.: • I-80 west to US 422. The detour will be SR 711 to Gypsy Lane to US 422. • US 422 west to I-80 east. The detour will be SR 711 to I-80. NEW IMPACT – Beginning Monday evening, April 6 and continuing through Tuesday morning, April 14, I-80 eastbound and westbound at U.S. 422 will have various nightly lane restrictions between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. NEW IMPACT – Beginning Monday, April 6, the pedestrian bridge over I-80 just east of US 422 will be closed through Monday, April13. The pedestrian detour will utilize Maple Ave. to US 422 to Morris Ave.
Interstate 80 in Hubbard Township I-80 eastbound just west of the Pennsylvania State line has various lane restrictions for a pavement replacement project being overseen by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. Motorists should expect delays in this area.
State Route 46 intersection improvements, Howland Township NEW IMPACT – Beginning Wednesday, April 1, the SR 46 and E. Market St. intersection will have various lane restrictions with traffic maintained by flaggers for the addition of turn lanes. Estimated completion, October 2027.
