Golden Age Vintage Marketplace to celebrate grand opening Friday
Golden Age Vintage Marketplace will officially celebrate its grand opening on Friday, April 10, bringing together local artisans, craftspeople, vintage curators, and specialty food makers in a new brick-and-mortar destination inside Sweet Memories Vintage Tees & Candy.
In a world increasingly driven by online shopping, shipping, and pop-up experiences, Golden Age Vintage Marketplace serves as a small business retail incubator, helping founding small business partners expand their businesses and establish a permanent retail presence in the Mahoning Valley. The marketplace was created around a promise to collaborate rather than compete, giving local entrepreneurs the opportunity to grow together under one roof.
The founding small business partners include Dream in Color, NutMeg, RustBelt Soapworks, Inked in Thread, Vivid Gypsy Goods, Wooden Nail, Iron Garden, Sonshine Blooms, The Farmer’s Daughter by Zahara, CAMArt, Iron Glass Art, Linda’s Bees, Youngstown Apparel, Because It’s Fun, Idora Park Experience, A Christmas Story, Wool War I, The Vault by Afterburner, Sabina’s Squishies, Lit Scenes, and RetroSoul.
The Root Cellar, which occupies two booths within the marketplace, will feature Delirium Pickling, Kava Roasters, Lulu’s Baked Goods, Black’s Family Farm, Peace Blends, Tongue Punch Flavor Company, Baked by Watts, Meadow Farms, Poppin’ Kernels, Herbal Rayne Sourdough, Maggie’s Mac’s & More, and Horning’s Sweet Heat.
Visitors can expect curated collections of vintage merchandise, artisan craft products, handmade goods, specialty foods, and one-of-a-kind items from local makers. The marketplace will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
In addition to highlighting local businesses, Golden Age Vintage Marketplace will feature “A Tribute to Local History,” an exhibit celebrating the entrepreneurial spirit of Youngstown and Northeast Ohio.
In 1932, Golden Age Beverage was founded in Youngstown by Nathan Darsky. In 2025, Linda Barton, owner of Sweet Memories Vintage Tees & Candy and Golden Age Vintage Marketplace, purchased the defunct Golden Age trademark and began restoring the brand as a tribute to the Darsky family, their legacy, and the history of entrepreneurship in the region.
The marketplace includes an exhibition dedicated to the Golden Age Beverage brand and the Darsky family, as well as a tribute wall honoring Northeast Ohio-founded companies including Good Humor, Klondike, Packard, and Arby’s.
“Golden Age Vintage Marketplace was created to give local makers and small business partners a place to grow while celebrating the people and brands that built this region,” said Linda Barton, owner of Golden Age Vintage Marketplace and Sweet Memories Vintage Tees & Candy. “We wanted to create something that is part marketplace, part museum, and completely rooted in community.”
To celebrate the grand opening, the first 100 visitors on April 10 will receive a free swag bag, which includes a Golden Age Vintage Marketplace T-shirt.
Golden Age Vintage Marketplace is located inside Sweet Memories Vintage Tees & Candy and will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
