Around 230 Youngstown State University students are reportedly participating in a controlled training exercise on Friday, April 24 at the Canfield Fairgrounds.

YSU’s Bitonte College of Health and Human Services will host a large-scale Mass Casualty Walk-Through Simulation at 9 - 11 a.m. at the fairgrounds.

They’ll have participation from students across a wide range of health, safety and human service disciplines, alongside local emergency response personnel.

The exercise is designed as an interprofessional training opportunity, allowing participants to practice coordinated response efforts during a simulated emergency scenario.

Because the simulation will include realistic elements such as mock injuries, emergency vehicles and active sirens, members of the public may notice activity or social media content that appears to depict an actual emergency.

This is a controlled training exercise that’s closed to the public.
