Boardman High School recently announced that senior swimmer Aly Murray will continue her academic and athletic career at the University of Mount Union, where she plans to major in Civil Engineering while competing as a member of the Purple Raiders swim program.

School officials said Murray has been a cornerstone of the Boardman swim program throughout her high school career. Known for her versatility and team-first mindset, she consistently stepped up wherever needed—whether dominating in backstroke events or taking on the grueling 500 freestyle—to help lead her team to success.

Officials said her athletic accomplishments are nothing short of exceptional. She is a four-time varsity letter winner and two-year team captain, four-time NEAC All-Star, four-time AAC First Team selection, and a four-time district qualifier. Murray is also a three-time Division I Top 16 State Qualifier and holds the freshman record in the 100 backstroke.

Additionally, she is part of the record-setting 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay teams at Boardman High School. Murray has earned recognition as a three-time All-Ohio swimmer and is a recipient of the Villiano Swim Scholarship and Academic All-American honors.

Equally impressive in the classroom, officials said Murray maintains a perfect 4.0 GPA and ranks first in her graduating class. She has been recognized as an Academic All-American and All-State Scholar and is a recipient of the Governor’s Merit Scholarship.

Beyond academics and athletics, officials said Murray has demonstrated a deep commitment to leadership and service within her school community. She serves as President of the National Honor Society and Co-President of Best Buddies, while also contributing as a Link Crew Commissioner and active member of Spanish Club, Student Council, Student Government, Key Club, and Emerging Leaders.

Boardman High School said it congratulates Murray on her commitment to the University of Mount Union and looks forward to watching her continue to excel in both the classroom and the pool.
