Traffic impacts in Mahoning and Trumbull counties for the week of May 4
The Ohio Department of Transportation has announced the following new and continuing traffic impacts for the week of May 4 in Mahoning and Trumbull County.
Mahoning County
Interstate 680 pavement replacement, Youngstown CONTINUING IMPACT – I-680 southbound traffic is crossed over onto the northbound lanes through late fall while I-680 southbound is reconstructed. CONTINUING IMPACT – I-680 northbound between South Ave. and SR 193 is closed through summer 2027. The detour is U.S. 62 to U.S. 422 to SR 193. CONTINUING IMPACT – The following ramps are closed through late fall 2026: • Sillman St to I-680 southbound. The detour is Steel St. to Mahoning Ave. to Belle Vista Ave. to Oakwood St. to I-680. • SR 193 to I-680 southbound. The detour is I-680 northbound to SR 711 to U.S. 422 eastbound to U.S.62 west/SR 7 south to I-680 south. • I-680 SB to Glenwood Ave./Mahoning Ave. The detour is I-680 southbound to South Ave. to Front St. to Marshall St. • Glenwood Ave./Mahoning Ave to I-680 south. The detour is High St. to Oak Hill Rd. to Falls Ave. to Market St. to Williams Ave. to South Ave. • I-680 south to Market St. south. The detour is I-680 south to South Ave. to Williamson Ave. to Market St. • I-680 south to Market St. north. The detour is I-680 south to South Ave. to Williamson Ave. to Market St. • I-680 south to U.S. 62/SR 7 north. The detour is I-680 south to South Ave. to U.S.62/SR 7. CONTINUING IMPACT – The following ramps are closed through summer 2027: • I-680 north to SR 193. The detour is U.S. 62/SR 7 to U.S. 422 to SR 193. • Marshall St. to I-680 north. The detour is Glenwood Ave. to Mahoning Ave. to Belle Vista Ave. • I-680 north to Glenwood Ave./Mahoning Ave. The detour is South Ave. to Front St. to Marshall St. • Market St. to I-680 north. The detour is Woodland Ave. to Hadnet Dr. to South Ave. to U.S. 62/SR 7 to U.S. 422 to SR 193. • Woodland Ave. to I-680 north. The detour is Woodland Ave. to Hadnet Dr. to South Ave. to U.S. 62/SR 7 to U.S. 422 to SR 193. • U.S. 62 west/SR 7 south to I- 680 north. The detour is Woodland Ave. to Hadnet Dr. to South Ave. to U.S. 62/SR 7 to U.S. 422 to SR 193.
Interstate 680 noise wall installation, Boardman Township I-680 northbound has various lane restrictions from just north of US 224 to SR 170. Estimated completion, late May.
Interstate 680 resurfacing, Boardman and Beaver townships NEW IMPACT – The ramp from SR 164 to I-680 northbound is closed through mid-May. The detour is SR 164 to Western Reserve Rd. to I-680. CONTINUING IMPACT – I-680 from just south of US 224 to the Pennsylvania Turnpike has various lane restrictions for pavement repairs and resurfacing. Estimated completion, late July 2026.
U.S. Route 224 & State Route 534 resurfacing, Berlin & Milton Townships NEW IMPACT – The following routes have various lane restrictions for pavement repairs and resurfacing: • U.S. 224 between the Portage County line to SR 534. • SR 534 from U.S. 224 to the Trumbull County line. Estimated completion, mid-September 2026.
State Route 7 intersection improvement, Boardman Township SR 7 at Indianola Rd./Shields Rd. has various lane restrictions for intersection improvements. Estimated completion, late August 2026.
Wick Avenue bridge deck replacement, Youngstown U.S. 422 under Wick Ave.has various lane restrictions for bridge repairs. Estimated completion, late August 2026.
U.S. 224 bridge replacement, Canfield Township U.S. 224 over I-76/Ohio Turnpike is reduced to one lane in each direction through fall 2026 for a bridge replacement being performed by the Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission.
Trumbull County
Interstate 80 in Hubbard Township I-80 eastbound just west of the Pennsylvania State line has various lane restrictions for a pavement replacement project being overseen by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. Motorists should expect delays in this area.
State Route 46 intersection improvements, Howland Township NEW IMPACT – Beginning Monday, May 11, the following restrictions will be in place through late October 2026: • Traffic on SR 46 southbound will not be able to turn onto East Market Street eastbound. The detour will be SR 46 south to SR 82 east to Howland Wilson Rd. to East Market St. • Traffic on SR 46 northbound will not be able to turn onto East Market Street westbound. The detour will be SR 82 east to Howland Wilson Rd. to E. Market St. • Traffic on East Market Street westbound will not be able to turn left onto SR 46 southbound. The detour will be Howland Wilson Rd. to SR 82 west to SR 46. CONTINUING IMPACT - The SR 46 and E. Market St. intersection has various lane restrictions with traffic maintained by flaggers for the addition of turn lanes. Estimated completion, October 2027.
State Route 46 resurfacing, Cortland; Howland & Bazetta Township NEW IMPACT – SR 46 from north of E. Market St. to SR 5 has various lane restrictions for pavement repairs through early May.
State Route 193 resurfacing, Johnston & Gustavus Townships SR 193 between SR 88 and the Ashtabula County line has various lane restrictions for pavement repairs through early May.
State Route 193 culvert replacement, Gustavus Township NEW IMPACT – Beginning Monday, May 4, SR 193 between Gardner Barclay Rd. and Davis Peck Rd. will be closed through Friday, May 8 for a culvert replacement. The detour will be SR 88 to SR 46 to SR 87.
