Unbeaten Division I state power Austintown Fitch once again leads the mahoningmatters.com Super 7 softball poll after another impressive week on the diamond.
The seven teams in the rankings own an impressive combined record of 127 wins and 24 losses.
Here’s a look at the complete rankings:
No. 1 AUSTINTOWN FITCH
The Fitch Falcons kept their perfect record intact at 19-0 after posting two more impressive wins last week.
The Falcons defeated small-school power Strasburg (which is Ohio’s all-time leader in state titles with 10) by a 12-3 final and followed that up with a 12-0 shutout win over the Tallmadge Blue Devils.
The Falcons have outscored their opponents 213-41 this spring and have held eight opponents to a run or less.
Fitch, which is averaging a staggering 11.2 runs per game, will close out the regular season with games against Warren Harding and Painesville Riverside this week.
No. 2 BEAVER LOCAL
Beaver Local, which recently won the OVAC championship for its division, is once again No. 2 in the poll.
The Beavers (22-3) have won nine games in a row and posted three triumphs last week over Salem 5-1, rival East Liverpool 12-1 and Weir (Wva.), 3-0.
Beaver Local has held 16 of its foes to a run or less per contest. The Beavers are also averaging eight runs per game.
The Beavers will close out the regular season with games against the Philo Electrics and Cardinal Mooney Cardinals this week.
No. 3 CARDINAL MOONEY
Youngstown Cardinal Mooney vaults into the rankings at No. 3 this week.
The Cardinals (14-4) have won three games in a row and recorded triumphs over Warren JFK 14-0, Hubbard 5-2 and traditional small-school Ohio power Conotton Valley 5-3 last week.
Mooney will play three powers to close out the regular season this week. They will go up against Canfield, Louisville and Beaver Local.
No. 4 WARREN CHAMPION
Traditional Ohio softball power Warren Champion holds down the No. 4 spot in the ratings.
The Golden Flashes (15-4) are riding a 12-game winning streak and defeated Newton Falls by scores of 12-1 and 6-5, Howland 6-5 and Garrettsville Garfield 12-1 last week.
The Golden Flashes will conclude the regular season with contests against LaBrae, Youngstown Ursuline, Garrettsville Garfield and Southeast this week.
No. 5 LAKEVIEW
Lakeview (20-5) is ranked No. 5 this week.
The Bulldogs, who won the Northeast 8 this spring, are 20-5 overall.
They defeated Canfield 7-6 and South Range 7-6 last week.
The Bulldogs will finish out the regular season with a game against the Chardon Hilltoppers this week.
No. 6 MAPLEWOOD
The Maplewood Rockets hold down the No. 6 spot in the ratings.
The Rockets have been a machine all spring while winning 21 straight games following a season-opening loss.
Maplewood (21-1) is giving up less than a run per game to its opponents.
The D7 power Rockets will conclude the regular season against the Crestview Rebels and Brookfield Warriors this week.
No. 7 SOUTH RANGE
South Range rounds out this week’s Super 7 at No. 7.
The Raiders (16-7) defeated Niles McKinley 18-1 in their most recent game.
The Raiders have two games slated this week against North Canton Hoover and Akron Hoban.
