City of Youngstown announces Commerce Street lot to receive safety enhancements
The City of Youngstown recently announced that following a series of conversations with downtown businesses and residents to better understand concerns and gather feedback about the city lot located at 121 W. Commerce Street, the city will immediately begin work on safety improvements to the lot this week.
To accommodate the work, the lot will temporarily close for 30 days beginning on Thursday, May 14th.
City officials said the project focuses on immediate safety, accessibility, and security enhancements aimed at supporting downtown visitors and businesses. During this time, the city will complete several upgrades, including:
- Upgraded lighting and security cameras
- Striping
- New signage
- Cleaning and comprehensive power washing
Free alternative parking will continue to be available in the public lot at the corner of W. Commerce St. and Wick Ave, as well as several other paid parking options throughout the city.
