Local photographer releases poster honoring Youngstown’s monuments
A local photographer released a poster depicting statues of steelworkers, historical figures, civic leaders and other recognizable subjects in black-and-white from across Youngstown.
Staged around the area’s iconic parks, plazas and notable institutions, Richard Martin Hahn’s poster is visual tribute to a city whose monuments have stood watch for generations.
“Many of us walk past these images every day and never think about what they represent,” Hahn said. “I wanted to stop people in their tracks and make them see Youngstown the way I see it.”
The poster, titled Iconic Youngstown, honors the city’s blue-collar heritage and civic sacrifice, according to Hahn who was a marketing and branding executive before launching his photographry business.
He wanted to “tell the story of who Youngstown is and who it has always been” while giving residents something to hang up in their homes and offices.
Copies of Iconic Youngstown in 18×12 and 24×18 print sizes are available for purchase on Hahn’s website.
Since launching, Hahn’s photography has been featured in galleries across the region — including the Butler, McDonough, Weller, and Trumbull galleries— as well as in Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., Virginia, California, Wyoming, Indiana, Texas and Colorado.
