Mahoning County Courthouse offering public tours as part of America 250 Celebration

As part of the American 250th celebration, the Mahoning County Courthouse will open its doors to residents and visitors for a series of guided tours of one of the most historic buildings in our region. The tours will take place June 15 through June 18, 2026, with sessions scheduled each day from 9:30–11:00 a.m. and 1:30–3:00 p.m.

The tours will be guided by Mahoning County Probate Judge Robert N. Rusu, Jr, and offer a unique look the building’s rich 115-year history and architectural features, while reflecting on the nation’s 250th anniversary and the building’s central role in our judicial system.

“I’m honored to welcome the community into this remarkable courthouse as part of the celebration of our nation’s 250thanniversary,” said Judge Rusu. “As we reflect on this milestone, it’s important to highlight this historical building for the central role it has played in our community a place built to uphold the democratic principles that our nation stands on.”

Built in 1910, the Mahoning County Courthouse stands as a striking example of Beaux-Arts architecture and reflects the region’s industrial strength and civic pride at the turn of the 20th century.

The America 250 initiative is a nationwide effort to honor the nation’s founding and reflect on the principles of freedom, democracy, and civic engagement. By opening the courthouse doors to the public, Mahoning County is connecting national history with local heritage—inviting residents to experience firsthand the institutions that uphold justice and democracy every day

The event is open to the public.
