First Fridays, AEW Collision headline week of downtown Youngstown events
Downtown Youngstown will host a full slate of events Friday through Thursday, highlighted by First Fridays Youngstown, AEW Collision at the Covelli Centre, live music, art, dancing, fitness activities and more.
First Fridays Youngstown: Chalk the Walk will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. today on and around Phelps and West Federal streets. The event will feature live music, local vendors, a Chalk Art Contest, a Community Chalk Art Area and a Community Pop-Up Skatepark hosted by the Youngstown Skatepark Association.
Presented in collaboration with Youngstown Cityscape, the free pop-up skatepark will temporarily transform part of the venue into a skatepark for skateboards, BMX bikes, scooters, inline skates and roller skates. It is designed to provide a safe and welcoming environment for riders of all skill levels while raising awareness for the association’s effort to create, develop and maintain a free, public skatepark in Youngstown.
If inclement weather prevents outdoor activities, First Fridays Youngstown will move indoors to Penguin City Brewing Co.
One of the week’s biggest events comes Saturday when AEW brings the action to the Covelli Centre. All Elite Wrestling takes over at 7:30 p.m. for a night of nonstop, high-energy action featuring some of the biggest stars in professional wrestling.
