47th Ohio vs. Pennsylvania Stateline Football Classic set to kick off
It’s one of the best high school all-star football games in the region.
The 47th Ohio vs. Pennsylvania Stateline Football Classic will kick off on Thursday, June 18th at 7 p.m. at Reeves Stadium on the campus of Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania.
The game pits top graduated seniors from Eastern Ohio against their rivals from Western Pennsylvania.
The Ohio team is chosen by the Quad County Coaches Association which includes players from Columbiana, Mahoning and Jefferson counties.
Ohio high schools with representatives in this year’s game include Austintown Fitch, Boardman, West Branch, Salem, South Range, Beaver Local, Valley Christian, Western Reserve, East Liverpool, Toronto, Richmond Edison, Indian Creek, Southern Local, Crestview, Lisbon, East Palestine, Columbiana, United, Wellsville, Springfield and Leetonia.
The game site alternates each season between Ohio and Pennsylvania.
Pennsylvania leads the entertaining series which annually attracts between 3,000-5,000 fans, but Ohio has won five of the past eight meetings, including the past two games. The Buckeyes posted a 30-7 win last summer when the contest was played at Salem’s Sebo Stadium. It marked one of their most lopsided Ohio triumphs in the long history of the game.
Proceeds from the contest fund partial scholarships for select student-athletes from schools that are represented in the game for Ohio and Pennsylvania.
