Academy Sports + Outdoors kicking off summer with free Boardman community event
Community members are invited to a free summer kickoff event on June 14 at Academy Sports + Outdoors Boardman from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Denny Andonov is the store director for the Academy Sports + Outdoor.
“The Boardman community has welcomed us with open arms. It’s been exciting to see the enthusiasm from customers and neighbors as they discover our wide assortment of sports, outdoor and lifestyle products designed to help them have fun out there,” he said.
Andonov said both the Boardman police and fire departments have been invited and are planning to attend, schedules permitting.
“Academy Sports + Outdoors is excited to help families get a head start on celebrating America’s 250th birthday by creating a community event that brings neighbors together with backyard games, giveaways, a dunk tank and more,” he said. “We’re kicking off the ‘Summer of Fun’ in Boardman with the best way we know how: getting outside, being active, and having fun together.”
Since the store opened last summer, Andonov said customers have been interested in the assortment of outdoor gear available at Academy Sports + Outdoor.
“Customers are especially drawn to categories like hiking, grilling, fishing and hunting, which really speaks to how this community enjoys spending time outdoors,” he said. “With Father’s Day just around the corner, we are excited to showcase all the products Dad loves – like Magellan Outdoors fishing shirts, grills, smokers, coolers, golf accessories, fishing gear and more. Everyone who attends the summer kick-off will get to take 20% off their in-store purchase by texting “BOARDMAN” to 22369. Through July Fourth, Academy Sports + Outdoors is offering a 10% discount online and in-store to first responders, active service members and veterans.
